WATERGATE

HISTORY CHANNEL

More than forty years later, the full story is finally told. For History’s definitive 3-part series Watergate, directed by Academy Award winner Charles Ferguson, we crafted a visual language to match the tension of the narrative. The graphics package is steeped in the paranoia of the 1970s. By combining heavy halftone patterns with stark, redacted-style layouts, we gave the archival footage a cohesive, cinematic grit that matches the gravity of the series.

TYPOGRAPHY

Anchored by a heavy slab serif, the typography draws inspiration from 1970s newspaper headlines and classified dossiers. We utilized a stark yellow palette to cut through the noise, creating a look that feels authoritative and urgent.

TEXTURE

We treated every graphic element like physical evidence. We degraded the archival material to mimic the monotone ink-on-paper aesthetic of the era’s print journalism. Layering coarse halftone patterns and photocopy grit created a unified look for all of the graphic deliverables.
