B&T Studio Project

Open Eyes is a custom playing card deck created by Block & Tackle in collaboration with illustrator Stefanie Augustine and printed by The United States Playing Card Company. The deck explores themes of chaos and humanity that shape both the rules of card games — and modern life.

Offered as a free studio project, Open Eyes invited recipients to donate to organizations doing vital work around the world, including Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, Sierra Club, and ProPublica.

Amnesty International works to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth, and dignity are denied.

Amnesty International is a global movement of millions of people demanding human rights for all people – no matter who they are or where they are.

Founded in 2007, ProPublica is an independent, non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest. They produce journalism that shines a light on exploitation of the weak by the strong and on the failures of those with power to vindicate the trust placed in them. In the best traditions of American journalism in the public service, they seek to stimulate positive change.

Their journalists uncover unsavory practices in order to stimulate reform. They do this in an entirely non-partisan and non-ideological manner, adhering to the strictest standards of journalistic impartiality.

Doctors Without Borders, USA (DWB-USA) was founded in 1990 in New York City to raise funds, create awareness, recruit field staff, and advocate with the United Nations and US government on humanitarian concerns.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization that provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.
